Blood Madrone depicts a madrone tree growing from an anatomical human heart with a gazelle silhouette amongst the top leaves. The madrone tree represents protection and safety and is a tree of depth and integrity. The heart pumps blood. Blood is like water and water is a symbol of wisdom and the life force. The creator, Margaret Giddens created this piece as a personal icon for their ART 115 class during winter term of 2019. Margaret is studying Graphic Design at LCC and aspires to have their own design studio attached to their dream home in the country outside of Eugene, OR. Margaret spends their free time exploring and playing in the natural world with their two year-old child.

Margaret Rose Giddens was our first Spotlight Artist we hosted! Check out our interview with them.
